Are you familiar with the acronym RESO and its role in real estate? The Real Estate Standards Organization (RESO) provides data standards and processes that create efficiencies for all participants in a real estate transaction.
RESO’s members include MLSs, brokerages, Realtor associations and technology partners. realMLS is a RESO member and strives to follow the RESO Data Dictionary.
The Data Dictionary is the real estate industry’s premier source for real estate data. It’s the common standard that defines real estate data using uniform terminology and structured data formats, which data providers may follow to format its most common fields.
RESO’s History
In 1999, the National Association of Realtors joined technology leaders to explore ways to make access to MLS data easier for brokers, agents and their technology partners.
RESO started as a NAR workgroup in 2002 and became an independent, not-for-profit trade organization in 2011.
RESO’s mission is to create and promote adopting and utilizing standards that drive efficiency throughout the real estate industry. Its vision is to play a role in developing a streamlined real estate technology industry.
